Charente-Maritime offers plenty of family-friendly activities, such as a visit to La Palmyre Zoo —just 10 minutes from the 4-star campground—strolling through the narrow streets of La Rochelle—1 hour from the campground— boat cruises around Fort Boyard departing from the ports of La Tremblade or Fouras, and day trips to the beaches stretching from Meschers in the Gironde region all the way to La Rochelle, passing by the Île d’Oléron.
Speaking of islands, you’ll love setting off from the 2 Plages campsite to discover the islands of the Charente-Maritime region, such as Ile d’Aix and Ile de Ré… Thanks to its privileged location in the heart of the Royannais region, you’ll be able to multiply your excursions by the ocean without ever tiring of the scenery. A word of advice: the best way to discover the region is by bike!
The campsite is located 600 m from the Velodyssé route, which runs from the south of France to the north. From the campsite in Saint-Palais-sur-Mer, you can take a stroll from Royan to Marennes-Oléron, where you’ll want to stop for oysters and a glass of Charente-Maritime pineau.
Let’s not forget Rochefort, where you can explore the Corderie Royale and tour the Hermione. On the way back to our campground near Royan, you can stop to visit Charente wine cellars and sample local specialties like cognac and pineau.

Just 20 minutes from our campground near La Palmyre, you can explore one of the most beautiful villages in France—the picturesque village of Talmont-sur-Gironde—or, even closer to the campground, the village of Mornac-sur-Seudre.
After all these family outings in Charente-Maritime, you’ll be happy to stroll around the 4-star campsite’s aquatic area or watch your children enjoy the slides in the heart of Saint-Palais-sur-Mer.
